Created at the start of 2022 through the merging of our long-standing and trusted retail retirement and insurance businesses, we're a fast-growing division with big, customer-centered ambitions.Job DescriptionWe are looking for an experienced Medical Claims Assessor with Group Claims experience to join us on a 12 month fixed term contract.Working on either a hybrid basis in our Hove office or completely Homebased with a salary of up to £40,000 dependant on experience.What you’ll be doing
  • In this role, you'll provide pro-active and comprehensive claims assessment and management services for a defined account portfolio, and determining liability with your authority level.
  • Assessing and triaging Group Protection claims, determining what medical evidence to obtain in line with L&G's philosophies.
  • Providing a comprehensive assessment of Group Protection claims and determining liability, while meeting the expectations of our clients and stakeholders.
  • Cultivating effective relationships with IFA's and Policyholders (employers), to maximise the effectiveness of our benefit management processes, including the provision of support for the portfolio management of defined schemes.
  • Assisting in the provision of Management Data on portfolio accounts which analyses performance and identifies key trends.
  • Training, mentoring, and developing other members of the claims team.
  • Developing processes that deliver compliant and consistent levels of service, such that our customer and client expectations are met.
Qualifications
  • In depth knowledge of Group Protection or Income Protection products.
  • Understanding of medical conditions and the effect these can have on an individual's ability to work.
  • Awareness of the investigative and rehabilitation services provided by external organisations.
  • Extensive legislative and regulatory knowledge including- Finance Act 2004, Equality Act, Employer Law, DWP State Benefits, HMRC rules relating to Life and Pensions products, Data Protection Act, Financial Ombudsman Service
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; analytical and risk management skills; ability to be creative and strategic thinking.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office suite and IT savvy.
  • Strong claims medical assessment skills
