Ultimately receive & execute fire ground orders to mitigate emergency situations. Responds to fire alarms and combats fire requiring the full range of firefighting tasks involving structures, equipment, and other facilities. Responds to hazardous materials incidents as an Operations level responder. Responds to on-site accidents/emergencies to provide basic life support and non-invasive emergency procedures.Roles and Responsibilities
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a Firefighter responsible for performing fire structural & ARFF suppression, hazardous materials, technical rescue, EMS, operations. Ultimately receive & execute fire ground orders to mitigate emergency situations
Responds to fire alarms and combats fire requiring the full range of firefighting tasks involving structures, equipment, and other facilities
Performs operational checks/maintenance on trucks and equipment to ensure operational readiness.
Inspects buildings for hazardous conditions and compliance to fire code standards. Instructs on fire prevention practices; conducts evacuation drills
Responds to on-site accidents/emergencies to provide basic life support and non-invasive emergency procedures
Analyzes hazardous materials to verify the presence/concentration of hazardous materials through the use of computer modeling and monitoring equipment
Develops plan of actions to combat hazardous materials incidents
Perform work at airfields handling aircraft (e.g., fighters, bombers, cargo, passenger) carrying large volumes of fuel, conventional and sometimes nuclear weapons, or highly flammable or explosive cargo; or handling a large number of air moves, or a moderate number involving pilot training, or other air moves with high crash or fire potential
Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the frequent changes in cockpit design, ordnance placement, and cabin layouts to determine how they affect the difficulty of rescue and firefighting
Operate or deactivate specialized mechanisms and systems, such as hatch or canopy release mechanisms, ejection seat mechanisms, or oxygen supply systems
Perform pre-fire planning by physically going through structures to become familiar with the layout, fire hazards, and location of fixed fire protection systems
Use direct pressure and/or tourniquets to stop bleeding, check windpipe for obstructions, perform CPR and/or provide other appropriate assistance
Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment
Employee must participate in a mandatory physical fitness program
Employee is required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management
This position requires the employee to wear uniform and/or protective clothing weighing up to 50 pounds
This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program
May be required to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required
Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth
May be required to work the Fire Alarm and Communications Center (FACC).
Must maintain current Emergency Medical Responder/Basic Life support certification
The work is performed in various settings, such as office buildings, warehouses, industrial buildings, or construction sites. In some areas, the employee may be required to wear protective clothing, such as masks, goggles, gloves, or shields. The work may involve moderate risks requiring the exercise of safety precautions when working around fuel transfer operations, construction sites, hospitals, airfields, etc.
Skill in operating communications equipment
Ability to communicate both orally and in writing
Basic Qualifications
Turkish Citizenship
Capable to speak, read, write, and understand English Language “Minimum Level III”
Have a current driver’s license (minimum “C” Class)
Capable of obtaining a Turkish security clearance (Turkish Citizenship)
High school diploma or equivalent
Must have the following DOD, Pro-Board or IFSAC Certifications:
Firefighter I, II
Airport Firefighter
Hazardous Material (HAZMAT) Operations
Munitions Fire Fighting course
CPR/EMR Certifications
Shall have a working knowledge of fire suppression, rescue and emergency incident techniques and hazardous materials responses.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of the operation of firefighting vehicles and associated equipment of significant complexity.
Knowledge of HAZMAT containment and control.
Thorough knowledge of the latest changes in aircraft cockpit design, ordnance placement, and cabin layouts to include the operation of hatch or canopy release mechanisms, ejection seat mechanisms, and/or oxygen supply systems. It may have been gained in the private sector, volunteer service, military service, and/or government service, etc
