You will play a critical role in supporting, enabling and delivering these projects by putting our customers, data and successful delivery at the centre of all that we do. And you’ll be part diverse, friendly and fun based across the UK.Project Data Division is new, nimble and multi-disciplinary group of data engineers and architects, analysts and service managers, project managers and subject matter experts with a mandate to transform how to Defra does major project delivery.While we sit within the Director General-lead Portfolio Delivery Group, we work across all of Defra's £30B+ portfolio of major projects. Moreover, you will be the lead champion for a culture of data curation and exploitation across the Defra project landscape. You will understand and help shape the incentives that drive culture, including by championing a culture of transparency and 'data for all'. By ensuring psychological safety and building trust, you will enable project data exploitation in major projects and the aggregate portfolio, ultimately moving from a culture of 'data as a stick' to 'data as an asset', where data is used as a means of enquiry and understanding.Specifically, you will:1) Maintain a high degree of knowledge about contemporary developments in enterprise-level data, technology, culture and systems, to underpin your influencing and championing efforts2) Contributing to updating the Government Project Delivery Capability Framework, and the associated government accreditation schemes, to better reflect the data skills and roles needed for the future.3) Help project delivery professionals improve their data skills and capabilities4) Help major project teams build and enhance skills and capabilities to get, manage and exploit their own data.5) Serve as the 'front door' and a lead stakeholder manger for Project Data Division, specifically by maintaining strong links with the wider organisation in order to understand specific business problems that could be solved with data by the Project Data team6) Understand and measure the cultural change you are contributing toYou will lead an contribute to data projects managed as a matrix by a small team of specialists, as well as lead and contribute to matrix teams of data and project professionals.
